Trump plans to issue an executive order to promote the development of artificial intelligence.
[Trump Plans to Issue Executive Order to Promote Artificial Intelligence Development] According to four informed sources, the Trump administration is preparing a series of executive measures aimed at fueling the expansion of artificial intelligence in the United States. Sources revealed that the initiatives being considered include making it easier for power generation projects to connect to the grid and providing federal land for the construction of data centers required for the expansion of artificial intelligence technology. According to data from the power industry consulting firm Grid Strategies, electricity demand in the United States is expected to rise at five times the rate predicted in 2022 between 2024 and 2029. A report by consulting firm Deloitte indicates that by 2035, the electricity demand for artificial intelligence data centers could grow more than 30 times. Informed sources disclosed that the government is considering prioritizing mature power generation projects in the interconnection queue. The executive order would also authorize the Department of Defense and the Department of the Interior to manage land for project construction. The government is also considering simplifying the permitting for data centers by establishing a national Clean Water Act permit instead of requiring companies to apply for permits state by state. In addition, the White House is considering designating July 23 as "Artificial Intelligence Action Day."
