Elon Musk Criticizes Harshly the Budget Bill of the Senate America
Elon Musk believes that the bill drafted by the U.S. Senate to allocate funding for President Trump's agenda is "crazy and destructive." "The latest Senate bill will destroy millions of jobs in America, causing serious strategic losses for the country. It pours money into industries of the past, while severely harming industries of the future. Completely crazy and destructive," billionaire Elon Musk wrote on social media X on June 28. The comment was made after Republican senators in the U.S. Senate completed drafting and prepared to bring the 940-page bill to a vote. This is the revised version of the more than 1,000-page bill that the U.S. House of Representatives passed at the end of May, establishing a budget framework for President Donald Trump to fulfill his campaign promises. The focus of the bill remains on maintaining the tax cuts implemented by Trump in 2017, increasing spending on border security, tightening regulations on Medicaid, and eliminating clean energy tax credits. Mr. Musk criticized the House version earlier in June, arguing that it would cause America's public debt of 36,000 billion USD to balloon further. This view strained the relationship between Musk and President Trump, leading to a heated exchange between the two. The U.S. Senate is expected to vote on the bill on June 28. If approved, the document will be sent to the U.S. House of Representatives for a vote to approve the amendments, and then sent to the White House for Trump to sign. The Republican Party is using a special legislative process to pass a bill without support from the Democratic Party. The Republican Party is not allowed to have more than three dissenting votes internally, as it only holds a slim majority in both chambers. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said on June 28 that Democratic lawmakers would force Republican members to read the entire 940 pages of the bill. "Republican lawmakers will not tell the American people what is in the bill. Therefore, the Democrats will force them to read it from start to finish in the chamber. We are prepared to stay overnight if necessary," he said. President Trump is urging the U.S. Congress to pass a bill with a deadline of July 4th. The White House stated earlier this month that the bill would help America reduce its deficit by $1.4 trillion each year.
