Cardano Midnight Airdrop: 24 Billion NIGHT Tokens Will Be Distributed, Here's How to Receive

The privacy-focused Sidechain Midnight of Cardano is launching a large airdrop. Here is everything you need to know about eligibility requirements, request deadlines, and the purpose of using the NIGHT token. Midnight Launches One of the Largest Airdrops of 2025 Midnight Network — a new sidechain focused on privacy built on the Cardano ecosystem — is distributing 24 billion NIGHT tokens as part of its ambitious "Glacier Drop". Unlike most airdrops targeting a single community, this one extends across multiple blockchains including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Solana, Avalanche, BNB Chain, Brave, and Cardano. A snapshot was taken on June 11, 2025, and anyone holding at least $100 worth of cryptocurrency on any supported chain at that time is eligible to request NIGHT tokens. Details About the NIGHT Airdrop: How It Works A total of 24 billion NIGHT tokens will be allocated as follows: 50% (12 billion) allocated for Cardano holders (ADA)20% for Bitcoin holders (BTC)30% shared among Ethereum, XRP, Solana, Avalanche, BNB Chain and BAT Users holding funds across multiple blockchains may qualify for multiple allocations. The tokens will not be unlocked all at once. Instead, they follow an allocation schedule: 25% is unlocked every 90 days, fully unlocked after 360 days. The initially airdropped tokens are locked through a smart contract and will gradually become tradable in stages. It is important that users have a limited timeframe of 60 days to claim their tokens, starting from July to August 2025. The NIGHT tokens that are not claimed thereafter will be transferred to Scavenger Mine, where users can earn them through computational mining. What is Midnight Network? Midnight is not just a new Cardano sidechain — it also aims to revolutionize blockchain privacy. Utilizing Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKP), Midnight enables secure smart contracts, meaning users can interact on-chain while still maintaining full control over which data is public. This feature opens up practical use cases, such as: Store medical records with selective disclosure Personal financial transactions DeFi applications with security features Midnight differs from traditional privacy coins like Monero or Zcash in that it allows for selective transparency, enabling users to decide which information to share and with whom. NIGHT Token Benefits: Governance, DeFi, and More The NIGHT token plays an important role in the Midnight ecosystem: It grants governance rights, allowing holders to vote on proposals and changes to the network. It allows users to mint a second native token called DUST, which is used as gas to execute smart contracts and transactions, similar to how ETH or ADA operate on their respective blockchains. Thanks to Midnight's ambition for interoperability, NIGHT is set to become a key asset in cross-chain security DeFi, particularly with upcoming integrations for Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, and XRP. Integrating XRP: A DeFi Bridge Without the Need to Move Coins A standout feature is Midnight's DeFi bridge with the XRP Ledger. While XRP lacks native smart contract functionality, Midnight bridges this gap by enabling staking, lending, and providing liquidity without the need to move XRP off its chain. The bridge utilizes secret smart contracts to ensure full data protection and ongoing discussions between Charles Hoskinson and Ripple executives aimed at deeper collaboration, including support for RLUSD (, Ripple's stablecoin ), and the compatibility of XRP with Cardano's Lace Wallet.
