According to Deep Tide TechFlow news on May 23, as reported by Decrypt, the large-scale multiplayer online role-playing game Ember Sword, based on Ethereum, announced its closure. The developer, Bright Star Studios, stated that it was forced to stop development due to an inability to secure the necessary funding to continue operations.

The game rose to prominence during the metaverse boom in 2021, attracting $203 million in funding through NFT land purchases. It received $2 million in financing from notable investors including game streamer Dr. Disrespect and The Sandbox co-founder Sebastien Borget, and hired industry veterans such as former World of Warcraft chief designer Rob Pardo as advisors.
