The City, County, and Local Affairs Committee of the Arkansas Senate rejected the bill that would ban cryptocurrency mining facilities from operating near military bases.

According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the bill received only one approval vote against six votes against.

If this law had been passed, the activities of cryptocurrency mining companies located approximately 30 miles (about 48 km) near military facilities could have been stopped and their operating permits could have been revoked. The bill also included an emergency provision claiming that cryptocurrency mining could jeopardize national security.

Biden Blocks, Trump Supports

Last year, former US President Joe Biden banned a China-based crypto mining company from operating near an airbase in Wyoming. This move has raised concerns about the potential risks of crypto mining to national security.

On the other hand, US President Donald Trump expressed his support for Bitcoin mining and argued that all Bitcoins should be produced within the US in the future. According to TheMinerMag's data, the US currently accounts for more than 40% of global crypto mining.
