Ethereum's Powerlessness Problem: Vitalik Had Resigned 99% Yes Vote Came - Coin Bulletin
Ethereum supporters are strongly backing former Ethereum researcher Danny Ryan to be the next leader of the Ethereum Foundation, despite objections from Vitalik Buterin.
A non-official survey conducted on Votedannyryan.com allowed participants to determine their support for Danny Ryan with a simple approval voting system.
Participants voted 'yes' or 'no' to Ryan through their Ethereum wallets.
So far, 99% of 325 wallets with a total of more than 51,000 Ethereum worth a total of $166 million have indicated their support for Ryan, who left the foundation last year. This vote does not produce an official result as there is no other candidate besides Ryan.
Fabrice Cheng, the developer of the voting site, stated that the purpose of launching this campaign was to provide a peaceful and objective way for a wider segment of the Ethereum community to express their opinions.
Cheng stated that 'The biggest strength of Ethereum is its social layer and it is vital for the future to hear the voice of the community'.
However, he emphasized that this vote does not have an official weight and does not advocate the adoption of a decentralized voting system for every decision.
Ethereum's leading problem
There have been intense debates about the leadership of the Ethereum Foundation in recent times. While some community members are concerned about leadership inefficiencies, others have expressed dissatisfaction with the current executive director Aya Miyaguchi.
Joseph Lubin, one of the co-founders of Ethereum and CEO of ConsenSys, proposed the appointment of Danny Ryan and Jerome de Tychey, President of Ethereum France, as co-chairs in place of Miyaguchi.
On the other hand, Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, stated that he will continue to hold the power to determine the next leader of the foundation until reforms are made and opposed Ryan's idea.
Ryan expressed his interest in this matter and started a dialogue on the X platform with Vitalik and other Ethereum Foundation members regarding these changes. However, it is not yet clear whether any official initiative will be taken for Ryan's appointment.
