A16z closes its UK office! Shifting focus back to the US encryption market in response to the new policy direction of Trump
Well-known venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz announced on 1/24 that it is closing its UK office due to the impact of a series of encryption policies issued by the Donald Trump administration. It will shift its focus to the United States and reduce some of its UK operations.

a16z established its London office during the tenure of then UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak(Rishi Sunak) in 2023, considering the UK as a stable business environment. However, a16z announced on 1/24 that it would scale back its operations in the UK and refocus on the US.
a16z encryption head Anthony Albanese tweeted on 1/24 that while optimistic about the development of the encryption industry in the UK, due to the Trump administration's active promotion of encryption policies, the London office has been closed and the focus will be on the US market.
