Trump extends the deadline for TikTok acquisition and takes an open attitude towards Musk and others' acquisition
Although TikTok was temporarily taken down in the United States over the weekend, President Trump extended the deadline for TikTok's sale immediately after taking office and expressed an open attitude towards individuals such as Elon Musk or Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison acquiring TikTok at a White House event.
Trump extends TikTok's sale deadline
Although TikTok was temporarily taken offline in the United States over the weekend, Trump signed an executive order on January 20 (the first day of his term) extending the deadline for sale by 75 days. While it is unclear whether Trump has the authority to extend this deadline, it may ultimately not be important.
The parent company of TikTok, ByteDance, has publicly rejected the sale of TikTok, but potential buyers hope that the Supreme Court's decision and the temporary closure of TikTok will prompt it to reconsider.
According to Bloomberg, Trump said at an event held at the White House on Tuesday: 'I have the authority to make a deal, so what I want to say to someone is to buy it, half for the United States, and half, we will give you a license, they will have a great partner. The assets you have can be worthless or worth trillions of dollars. It all depends on whether the United States grants permission.'
McCourt, O’Leary, and Mr. Beast all want to acquire TikTok
A group of American investors convened by tech entrepreneur Jesse Tinsley announced an acquisition offer on Tuesday, including content creator MrBeast, who has over 346 million subscribers on YouTube.
Former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, billionaire Frank McCourt, has also expressed interest in the acquisition of TikTok and plans to transform it into a platform centered around user data protection. McCourt explicitly stated that he is willing to acquire TikTok, but not including the service's coveted content algorithm, which both ByteDance and the Chinese government have declared as non-negotiable.

Well-known angel investor, also the host of reality show Shark Tank and entrepreneur Kevin O’Leary, has recently made an acquisition offer for TikTok. O’Leary has already met with Trump at the White House to discuss the acquisition.

In addition, it was also previously reported that the Chinese government is considering acquiring Musk, who has a good relationship with the US government.

Trump considers downloading TikTok
At the end of his speech, Trump said he might download TikTok on his phone.
We won the youth vote again. I think I won it through TikTok, so I have a warm place in my heart for TikTok.
