Investigation of 42 key figures in the Solana ecosystem: the most underestimated and overestimated zones, and the current biggest problem?
Lightspeed initiated an anonymous survey revealing the Solana founders' views on other ecosystems, venture capital, memecoin, and the Solana inner circle. Overall, they expressed concerns about the lack of Block space and considered Base and Sui as the most competitive opponents. This article is sourced from Jack Kubinec's work, organized and compiled by Plain Blockchain. (Background: Grayscale's report: The 20 most promising cryptocurrencies in the first quarter of 2025, focusing on Decentralized Finance, AI Agents, and the Solana ecosystem) Lightspeed conducted an anonymous survey, distributed to Solana founders, heavy users, etc., aiming to truly understand their views on other ecosystems, venture capital firms, startups, etc. The survey questions covered a variety of options and provided spaces for writing, edited for grammar and clarity. Here are the survey results for 42 founders: 1. Besides Solana, which Block do you choose? Some founders also stated: 'If it's not Solana, I won't get involved in Cryptocurrency.' 2. What is your favorite US political party? 3. Which crypto VC do you rate the highest? Founders also stated: 'Choosing one is unfair.' 4. Which crypto VC do you least favor? Founders also stated: 'Blindly following Asian venture capital firms based solely on the lead investor is not okay.' 5. It is said that the Solana inner circle is very deep. In order to promote the development of internal circle projects, non-internal circle projects are often sacrificed. Founders also stated: 'I don't know, it's all the same, not much difference.' 'I don't like this question; it feels like provoking controversy rather than providing information.' 'It does exist, and I am a part of it, but it's not 'at the expense of non-internal circle projects.' Because I also invest a lot of time and money in 'non-internal circle projects.' It's two-way—you give, you get something back.' 'It doesn't exist, and yet I am a part of it.' 'In the early stages and Bear Market, some personal relationship networks were formed. Those who value cooperation and help Solana, over the years, naturally built closer relationships. Some people (including those from the OG Solana Labs team) later became influential figures and gained a large following. Almost all surviving teams have also received funding from venture capital and Solana Ventures. These are all facts, but I don't see any malice in it. The Solana Foundation has done an excellent job of actively dispersing this influence and supporting people in the ecosystem who are doing great (such as Superteam, etc.). In my opinion, Toly is particularly good at supporting builders impartially, not based on personal preferences, but based on (1) the cool projects they build, and (2) their sincerity.' 6. What is currently the biggest problem for Solana? Founders also stated: 'Urgently need more Block space. Demand increases by 5 times + prices rise by 2 times = in order to keep the cost of application developers unchanged, the Block size needs to be increased by 10 times!' 7. How do you view the significance of Memecoins for Solana? 8. Solana has many startups that are not self-created; which one do you most want to join? 9. Which one do you least want to join? Founders also stated: 'I don't want to join companies that haven't shown potential.' 10. What is the most overvalued Solana zone? Founders also stated: 'SocialFi, DeSci, and gaming still have potential.' 11. The most underestimated department of Solana? 12. Which of the following does the most damage to Solana's reputation? Founders also stated: 'FTX was both outstanding and terrible in the early days, haha.' There are many points worth discussing in this, but I found some particularly noteworthy: Other founders do not have a high opinion of pump.fun, but they generally believe that memecoin is beneficial for the ecosystem. And Base and Sui seem to be the most attractive Solana competitors at the moment. As a journalist, it's not easy to get founders to speak candidly in public. This survey helped me better understand the true thoughts of the Solana founders—at least from an overall perspective.
