Former chairman of Taiwan's renowned board implicated in gambling fraud of 40 billion, prominent lawyer Liu Lien relying on Money Laundering to pocket 470 million, facing 9-year sentence
Former chairman of a prominent Taiwanese board company and lawyer Liu Lien, who was once active in the cryptocurrency industry, was investigated for allegedly establishing Ximan Technology to assist three illegal gambling websites with money laundering. It was revealed that he failed to report transactions totaling over 39.4 billion yuan last year, from which he earned as much as 470 million yuan in fees. The Taipei District Prosecutors Office accused Liu and 17 other group members of organized crime, gambling, and money laundering, seeking a 9-year sentence for Liu. Liu's defense argues that while he acknowledges the involvement of Ximan Company in handling the money for the gambling group, he denies any violation of the Commercial Accounting Law or the Organized Crime Prevention Act as alleged by the prosecution.
