Sonic, which has reached over 2 million users on TikTok, announced that it will distribute airdrops to platform users.
Sonic, a Solana-based, gaming-focused layer-2 blockchain project, is preparing to airdrop SONIC tokens to all users who join the platform via TikTok.
Sonic is drawing attention with the game called SonicX developed locally within TikTok. This strategy aims to replicate the success of mini applications developed on the TON blockchain on Telegram.
According to the company's statement, the SonicX game has reached more than 2 million users thanks to TikTok's wide reach and user-friendly experience. However, it was reported that details of the token distribution were not provided.
Blockchain-based games often struggle to retain users on the platform due to complex user experiences. Sonic aims to leverage existing onboarding processes and provide an easy user experience using Web2 platforms such as Telegram and TikTok.
While TikTok's monthly active user base is known to be 1 billion, it is expected to exceed 2.3 billion by the year 2029. It was stated that Shopify's forecast provides new opportunities for projects like Sonic.
