The U.S. Department of Justice has arrested the heir to the Cartier brand for money laundering.

Maximilien de Hoop Cartier, the grandson of Louis Cartier, was arrested in Miami while working with a Colombian drug cartel.

Cartier was trying to launder hundreds of millions of dollars worth of money and smuggle 100 pounds of drugs through shell companies. Cartier laundered $14.5 million worth of USDT before his arrest.

The luxury jewelry brand was founded by Louis Francis Cartier in Paris in 1847. An Argentine citizen, Maximilien de Hoop Cartier spent most of his life in France.

Cartier is currently in custody in Miami, while his collaborators are imprisoned in Colombia.
