The giant project succumbed to the backlash: it had to distribute money!

In response to criticism of its first airdrop, EigenLayer announced that it will distribute an extra 100 to 110 EIGEN to 28,000 eligible wallet addresses.

EigenLayer, the restructuring protocol of Ethereum**, announced that it will distribute approximately 28 million EIGEN to more than 280,000 wallets just days after the first airdrop announcement On Monday, EigenLayer announced that it would allocate 15% of its total supply to the community, which was criticized by many communities, especially the Turkish crypto ecosystem.

In a post to X on May 2, Eigen stated that users who interacted with the protocol before April 29 would receive additional EIGEN to their wallets. The new airdrop will also cover users who won bounty from the previous event.

In a follow-up blog post, the team announced that Season 1 claimants will receive at least 110 EIGEN, while Season 2 claimants (those who interacted with the protocol between March 15 and April 29) will receive at least 100 EIGEN.

Much of the criticism has focused on EIGEN's non-transferable token structure, 15% community allocation, and anti-VPN measures that have seen users from 30 countries, including the U.S., Canada, China, and Russia, be prevented from claiming EIGENs.

EigenLayer has stated that it will try to include more testnet users who may have been excluded from the airdrop.
