President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has appointed Prof. Dr. Fatma Özkul, who teaches courses on cryptocurrencies and blockchain, as a member of the Central Bank's Monetary Policy Committee (MPK).
According to the decisions published in the Official Gazette on December 22, Prof. Dr. Fatma Özkul was appointed as a member of the Central Bank's Monetary Policy Committee with the signature of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Who is Prof. Dr. Fatma Özkul?
Fatma Özkul was born in Elazığ in 1978. Özkul, who graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration**, completed his master's and doctorate on Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Accounting and Finance.
Özkul, who received the title of associate professor in 2012, became a professor in 2018. He worked as an academician at Bahçeşehir University for 14 years and published many academic articles.
Importance for cryptocurrencies
Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek recently said that legal regulations on cryptocurrencies will be introduced next month.
