What are the synergies between Linea and other ConsenSys product lines?

The main purpose of Consensys is to allow more people to enter the blockchain world. But the biggest problem now is that the fees on the chain are too expensive.

In the past, Consensys' service method was only MetaMask and an rpc node. But now with the Linea agreement, it can bring the best user experience to new users.

Users can quickly go to the second-layer protocol through MetaMask, and then allow users to directly purchase the virtual assets they want in the cheapest and most convenient way.

So with a convenient and easy-to-use underlying protocol like Linea, we can create a better user experience. The user experience of Web3 will become more and more like Web2, and this is the only way we think we can attract people who are not interested in the Web3 project.

To make the whole product simple and good, with Linea, our company has a big impetus.

Linea also belongs to the category of Zkevm. Before V God divided Zkevm into four categories, which category does Linea belong to? And why do you plan to take such a path?

At present, there are actually two types of Rollups on the market. One is Optimism Rollups such as ARB and OP, and the second is Zk Rollups mainly based on Linea. Optimism Rollups have several important flaws. Transition to the mainnet, the transition from the mainnet to the second layer is not smooth enough.

The second is security. The second layer protocol is actually to let the unsinkable computing power on the main network go to the second layer, and then put it back to the first layer after the calculation.

zk Rollup uses zero-knowledge proofs, and Optimism Rollup uses fraud proofs. Zero-knowledge proofs are 100% secure. That’s why V God said that the first step in the expansion of Ethereum is Optimism Rollup, but its final form must be It is zk Rollup.

Second, the difference between different Zkevm is very big, for example, between ZkSync and Linea, ZkSync is not EVM compatible at the bytecode level.

If you have a Dapp on the main network, you can put it directly on Linea without any code changes, and switch to Linea’s second-layer protocol with one click, but if you want to switch to ZkSync, you need a compiler. One step, there will be security issues, and there will be some additional costs for development.

So Type 2 Zkevm like Linea, zksync is Type 3 and Type 4 ZKevm, and there is another type of EVM like Stark, which is not an Ethereum VM. It has its own VM and its own language, so for developers It's not very friendly.

Of course, everyone has different interpretations of Zkevm. The more Zkevm there are, the more layer-2 protocols there are. Only after intense competition can we know whose technology is the strongest.

In addition to being able to prevent these developers from migrating these projects to the second layer, and using Solidity development that developers are familiar with, what advantages does Linea have?

Everyone may have their own different strengths. From the perspective of Linea, the biggest technical advantage is the use of a proof system called Lettuce, which can be called lettuce, and it is peeled off like lettuce. This kind of proof system uses the process of generating Snark Proof to be faster.

The second point is actually an outlook on the Ethereum Layer 2 protocol. Linea has never wanted to say that the second layer protocol is the only one, and we really want to be a Multi Prover.

Multi Prover imagines Linea as an Ethereum client, and now there are actually many different clients. Ethereum is only secure if you have multiple clients, because if one client goes down, there are many others that can be used.

It is actually problematic for a single company to dominate the second layer of Ethereum, because if a bug occurs after a single company dominates, it will affect the entire ecology.

Multi Prover means that for one of your products, you can ask three companies to prove it. If all three companies pass the test, this product can be verified and put back on the main network, which greatly enhances the security of Ethereum. It is also one of the usefulness of Linea as a Layer 2 protocol that we think.

As a Consensys company, it mainly wants to promote Multi Prover, which is also very compatible with the entire Ethereum or the future direction of Ethernet we imagined. This is also a big technical challenge.

Does Linea say that it is worried that ARB and OP will occupy such a market share in the early stage because of the first-mover advantage?

I don't think they have a first-mover advantage, but I think they have made outstanding contributions to the entire second-layer protocol or the expansion ecology of Ethereum. There is no need for the second layer, and more people may use BNB or Polygon.

ARB and OP have taken a good lead, but after they set a precedent, can they be sure that they will win? For so many years from 2016 to now, Ethereum has layered new narratives and layers of new technologies. No one can say that it can dominate or the network effect has reached a certain level, and others cannot catch up.

The second point, I think Linea has a natural technical advantage, and a company like Consensys has a natural combination with Little Fox. Combining concentrated factors, Linea is very confident in competing or cooperating with friends.

The last point is that Consensys has a strong cooperative relationship with OP and ARB, so it is not like the outside world imagines that a new layer-2 protocol will come, and those before will die or there will be serious competition.

Linea is working hard every day to think about how to develop in the direction of Multi Prover, Layer 3, security performance, and simplicity for more users.

For example, Linea already has a native account abstraction, which is 4337, so everyone can do Sponsor Transaction, Section Key, etc., so I think the competition is not as fierce as everyone imagined.

If there are some unexpected failures, how can we ensure the safety of users' funds on Linea?

In fact, this problem can be divided into two small problems. In fact, the loss of funds is a problem. The second problem is the safety performance of our products. Let me talk about security first. Downtime and loss of funds are completely two issues. Downtime does not mean that your money is gone.

Well, you don’t have to worry about the security of the Linea network. The reason why we’re doing an Odyssey with Galaxy on the testnet is that we want everyone to use our testnet and pass the stress test to see if our network can hold Well, at least for now it looks pretty good.

Consensys has been doing Ethereum infrastructure since 2016. Perhaps there is no company in the currency circle that does better than Consensys infrastructure. So please rest assured that downtime may occur, but it must be resolved immediately because Consensys has a lot of experience in dealing with downtime.

In terms of the loss of funds, from the perspective of business, we hope that there will be good projects on Linea, and everyone will invest in projects that can make money, and then hope that there will be a good cycle. The more good projects, the better for everyone To make money, we have some basic businesses on it, and I think it is the most important thing that everyone can make money on Linea.

What is the roadmap of Linea? Can you share with you any important plans for this year?

The mainnet will be launched in July. Linea’s development team is very nervous every day to give everyone a better experience when the mainnet is launched, so I would like to invite development partners to participate together.

After the mainnet is launched, there will probably be two directions. The first thing Linea wants to do is about Layer3 and Appchain.

So far, Linea has contacted many game project parties. Games actually have higher requirements for throughput, and especially game publishers of this kind need to be peer-to-peer and own the entire value chain, so Layer 3 is Linea’s project direction.

The second one requires more manpower to do Multi Prover, because Multi Prover needs to cooperate with other companies, but other companies are not very dependent on Ethereum, so Consensys needs to do more.

The last point I want to say is that as an ecological public chain, the development direction of Linea needs to be told by the community. I think it is not good to build an ecology behind closed doors and not discuss with the community what the community needs.

Linea's current focus is still on DeFi, or does it also want to introduce some projects with stronger Web3 social attributes?

Lenster is now in Linea's ecology, and we embrace it very much. Projects like Social and Gamefi are a track that Linea has deeply cultivated. But the biggest problem now is that like social networks, which require a network calculation, there is a cold start problem, which is difficult to achieve on the second-layer protocol.

So we want to make Defi well first, and then make some small Gamefi, and then Linea hopes that users can experience our platform and Network first, lay a good foundation, and then hope to have good social software to develop.
