The U.S. SEC's cryptocurrency task force is set to hold roundtable discussions in 10 cities nationwide.
On the 1st, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced that the cryptocurrency task force led by Commissioner Hester Peirce will hold roundtables in cities across the nation. The tour is set to kick off in Berkeley on August 4 and will cover 10 cities until December 5 in Ann Arbor.
The chair of the committee explained that "I want to hear the voices of those who could not attend the roundtable held in Washington, DC this spring." They particularly emphasize dialogue with representatives of small-scale cryptocurrency-related projects with fewer than 10 employees and established for less than 2 years.
Interested participants can apply by emailing crypto@sec.gov with the subject "Crypto on the Road," including team composition and project overview. Participation is limited to 1-2 representatives, and to ensure transparency, a list of participating projects will be made public.
This initiative is part of the SEC's "Project Crypto" announced on the 31st, and it will be a comprehensive initiative aimed at realizing President Trump's vision of making the United States the global capital of cryptocurrency.
The SEC, led by Chairman Paul Atkins, who is a supporter of cryptocurrency, clarifies its position that most cryptocurrencies are not securities, aiming to resolve the confusion regarding the application of the Howey Test. They also intend to develop a new regulatory framework to accommodate systems that do not require central intermediaries, such as decentralized finance (DeFi) systems and automated market makers.
