On July 5, according to CCTV news reports, on July 4 local time, U.S. President Trump stated that the U.S. government would begin sending letters to trade partners starting that day, setting new unilateral tariff rates. Trump said the new tariffs would "most likely" take effect from August 1.
Trump stated that starting from the 4th, the United States will send letters to multiple countries, expecting "10 or 12" to be sent out on that day, with more letters to be mailed out in the coming days.
