AI and Blockchain: The Twin Wings of Technological Revolution

The emergence of ChatGPT has sparked a new wave of AI enthusiasm. As an early user, I have found that it still has limitations in certain areas, especially in emerging fields like blockchain games. However, its impact on programming, copywriting, design, and other jobs is immense, and it could potentially replace a large number of "bricks-and-mortar type intellectual jobs."

The rapid development of AI technology may drive the fifth technological revolution. Some predictions suggest that true strong artificial intelligence could be realized within 20 years. In the face of such powerful productivity, we need to consider the corresponding production relations. Blockchain technology may serve as a counterbalance, constraining the development of AI through characteristics such as decentralization and smart contracts.

Can AI Ignite the Fifth Technological Revolution? (Part Two)

Interestingly, the origins of AI and Blockchain are very close in time. In 2007, Geoffrey Hinton published a paper that laid the foundation for deep learning; in 2008, Satoshi Nakamoto released the Bitcoin white paper. These two technologies seem destined to complement and balance each other.

Can AI Ignite the Fifth Technological Revolution? (Part II)

Looking back at history, leaps in productivity often require corresponding production relations. The reason the First Industrial Revolution was able to flourish was due to the gradual improvement of the commercial system over the previous two hundred years, such as the establishment of double-entry bookkeeping and the corporate system. In contrast, China's policy of self-imposed isolation during the same period limited productivity development and affected the country's fortunes for the following centuries.

History is always full of chance and inevitability. In 1492, while China was implementing a policy of self-imposed isolation, Columbus embarked on the era of great geographical discoveries. Eastern and Western civilizations once again brushed past each other this year, subsequently embarking on entirely different paths of development. Today, the rise of AI and Blockchain has brought new opportunities and challenges to human civilization. We need to take history as a lesson, and while promoting technological progress, we must also think about how to construct a reasonable system and order.
