A Large Amount of Mysterious BTC Transfer Came to Ross Ulbricht, Who Lost All His Bitcoins to the US Government! What Does It Mean?
The founder of Silk Road, Ross Ulbricht, came to the forefront for the first time after gaining his freedom with the presidential pardon he received in January.
After spending 11 years in prison, Ulbricht was released and, four months later, put his personal belongings up for auction, shortly thereafter receiving a mysterious Bitcoin transfer worth millions of dollars.
Ulbricht's prison-era identification cards, a blank rehabilitation notebook, and many personal belongings including oil paintings he created while incarcerated have been put up for sale on the Bitcoin-based auction platform Scarce City. A total of 12.31 BTC was raised by the end of the auction, which is approximately 1.3 million dollars at current prices.
The piece that received the highest bid was the last prison ID card, which was issued just months before Ulbricht's release. This card found buyers for 5.5 BTC (yaklaşık 600 thousand dolar). Ulbricht said a guard asked him not to laugh during the ID photo shoot, but he smiled anyway: "I feel joyful, so I smiled that day, even when I was in prison."
Immediately after the auction, a single transaction of 300 BTC worth approximately 31 million dollars was made to a donation wallet linked to Ulbricht, (. This large transfer was noticed by Lookonchain and confirmed to have been transferred to Ulbricht's donation wallet with Arkham Intelligence data.
Some commentators suggested that this transaction may not be a genuine donation, but rather a self-transfer from wallets that had access before Ulbricht's arrest in 2013.
In January, on the day he was pardoned by President Donald Trump, more than 2.6 BTC was donated to Ulbricht with over 170 transactions.
