American tech giants support "UAE StarGate.io" AI super data center, Blackwell chips leading a new era of technology in Abu Dhabi.
Against the backdrop of the UAE promoting AI as a national strategy, a massive artificial intelligence data center project is rapidly becoming the focus of the global tech community. American tech giants including Nvidia, Cisco, Oracle, and OpenAI have confirmed their participation in the "UAE StarGate.io" initiative led by UAE-based company G42, which could potentially rewrite the Middle East's position in the global AI landscape.
Nvidia offers the strongest AI chip Blackwell GB300 leading the way.
According to insiders familiar with the situation, global AI chip leader Nvidia will provide the latest Blackwell GB300 system for the "UAE StarGate.io" data center. This chip, just released this year, is regarded as a top choice for AI training and inference, significantly enhancing the computing performance of the center.
In addition to the collaboration in the UAE, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also announced this week in Saudi Arabia that he will sell 18,000 Blackwell chips to the local AI company Humain, which will be used to build data centers with a total computing capacity of 500 megawatts. Humain has committed to investing 10 billion dollars in this project.
UAE StarGate.io: Combining the AI Strategic Plans of the United States and AE
UAE StarGate.io is not only a regional project but is also closely related to the AI infrastructure project of the same name "StarGate.io" in the United States. It is reported that this project was launched in the United States shortly after President Trump took office again this January and is being advanced in sync with the UAE version.
According to information released by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Abu Dhabi will become the base for UAE StarGate.io, which will be constructed by UAE AI giant G42. The entire park is massive, covering an area of 10 square miles, with an expected total computing power of up to 5GW (gigawatts). The first phase will initiate a 1GW AI computing cluster.
This project attracted several heavyweight figures from the tech industry to visit the UAE, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Cisco President Jeetu Patel, and SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son. Although Cisco, Nvidia, and OpenAI have not commented on the collaboration to the media, the presence of their executives shows their importance to UAE StarGate.io.
Oracle's participation has also been confirmed, with its co-founder Larry Ellison appearing earlier at a public event for the StarGate.io project in the United States, demonstrating his long-term support for the AI infrastructure plan.
Trump appears in the Middle East, starting his first visit during his second term.
It is worth noting that U.S. President Trump also chose the UAE as one of the locations for his first overseas visit during his second term, and he recently visited Saudi Arabia. This move is interpreted as the U.S. government's emphasis on AI investment cooperation in the Middle East, particularly in support of multinational technology projects like UAE StarGate.io.
The US version of the StarGate.io project is progressing synchronously, with multiple states expressing high interest.
OpenAI announced as early as February its plans to establish multiple StarGate.io data centers in the United States, with 16 states expressing strong interest, including Texas, California, New York, Florida, and Washington. The first base has begun construction in Abilene, Texas, and is expected to be completed in mid-2026, becoming one of OpenAI's important nodes for global computing power.
Middle East AI strategy upgraded again: Saudi Humain invests billions of dollars
In the AI arms race in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia is not falling behind. Local company Humain plans to build multiple data centers and is collaborating with Nvidia and AMD to procure AI chips. AMD has confirmed that it will supply chips to Humain and support its goal to expand to a computing capacity of 500 megawatts.
