Abstract generation in progress

Uniswap DAO passed an initial governance proposal on 3/31, namely the renewal of the vault authorization program (Treasury Delegation Program), which can give up to about $110 million of 18 million UNIs to 12 specific governance representatives to increase the voting activity of the DAO.

Although it was temporarily voted through, it will have to go through a formal vote on the chain to land. The overall community was not entirely unanimous on the proposal, with only 60% support and 30% abstaining.

Uniswap DAO launched its first round of authorization pilot program as early as 2023.

This proposal is similar to the "UNI Delegation Program" that the Uniswap DAO launched back in December 2023, which aims to empower highly active governance participants who lack sufficient token support by granting them UNI.

According to the Tane platform, the main enabler, after the launch of the past round of the program, all funded representatives participated in the vote, and DAO governance became significantly more dynamic.

The new round of proposals allows 12 representatives to receive a maximum of 1 million UNI each.

According to the current preliminary proposal, if this new round of funding is officially approved, 12 representatives will be selected:

Each person can receive a maximum of 1 million UNI as a voting reward.

Assuming you qualify as a "good representative", you get an additional 1 million UNIs

The scoring criteria include a voting participation rate of more than 80% in the last three months to ensure that resources do not fall into the hands of representatives who "take the money and do not vote"

Review project performance and representative performance every three months.

Communities still have reservations, and doubts about centralized governance have revived

Although the proposal successfully passed the preliminary threshold, it also sparked a lot of discussion, and some people argued:

Such resource allocation will make DAO governance more and more concentrated in the hands of a few representatives, contrary to the idea of decentralization

This resource valued at over 100 million dollars will end up in the pockets of representatives with strong political ties and close relationships with the interests of the mainnet.

It is worth noting that the support rate for this vote is about 60%, but nearly one-third of the people abstained from voting, indicating that many token holders are taking a wait-and-see approach.
