ETHTaipei kicks off! Can we ask the divination sticks if ETH can reach 10K this year?

The Ethereum community's annual event ETHTaipei 2025 officially kicked off today, with host Martinet Lee specially introducing Taiwan's traditional custom of throwing divination blocks and the design of the hundred-step snake pattern for this event, inspiring the Ethereum community to keep Building!

Throw the divination blocks! Will ETH reach 10K this year?

Host Martinet introduced the practice of divination using "jiǎo", a folk belief popular in Taiwan and Chinese culture. When believers go to the temple to speak to the deity about their inquiries, they use two semi-circular wooden "jiǎo" cups. After praying, they clasp their hands together and throw the cups. Based on the orientation of the two cups when they land, they predict the fortune and success of the matters in question.

The results include "Holy Divination" ( one positive and one negative, representing affirmation ), "Laughing Divination" ( two positives, which may indicate that the deity feels the question is inappropriate and responds with a smile, and "Yin Divination" ( two negatives, representing denial ).

Martinet asked on the spot: "Can ETH reach 10K this year?" and threw the divination blocks, resulting in a "laughing block," which also caused an uproar of laughter at the scene.

The hundred-step snake encourages the Ethereum community to continue building.

The design of this event also includes the common hundred-pace snake found in Taiwan. Martinet stated that the hundred paces represent the spirit of the Ethereum community's continuous building.

In addition to the opening speech by Ethereum founder Vitalik and his personal attendance at several heavyweight panel discussions, the topics at ETHTaipei covered cutting-edge issues such as DeFi, Layer 2, and wallet technology. The venue also featured open improvisational music performances and live creations by masters of anime art.

On the last day of the event, a traditional Taiwanese banquet will be held in front of the Dadaocheng Temple, allowing blockchain developers from around the world to experience the most authentic Taiwanese food culture, filled with rich Taiwanese characteristics!
