Golden Finance reported that the Pectra upgrade of Ethereum will go live on the Holesky testnet at 9:55 PM today (UTC time), allowing developers to test it before the new improvements enter the Ethereum Mainnet. Pectra introduces features that enhance Ethereum accounts, support layer 2 scaling, and improve the user experience of validators.
According to the Ethereum Foundation, Pectra represents an important step towards the abstraction of accounts. One major change includes EIP-3074, which enhances the Ethereum account abstraction by allowing externally owned accounts (EOA) to execute batch transactions and sponsor gas payments. In addition, the Pectra upgrade will increase Ethereum's blob capacity by 50%. Currently, the Mainnet supports an average of 3 blobs per block, which will increase to 6 after the deployment of Pectra.
