The spread between the 10-year yields of the UK and Germany is approaching its highest level since 1990.

On December 17th, the latest evidence of inflation pressure plaguing the UK economy has driven the yield spread relative to Germany to its highest level in decades. The difference in yields between the UK and Germany's 10-year bonds has widened to 228 basis points at one point. If this trend continues, it will mark the largest closing gap since the initial weeks of German reunification in 1990, surpassing the levels reached during the UK debt crisis over two years ago.
