Trump reaches settlement with American Broadcasting Company on defamation lawsuit

Odaily Planet Daily News According to local time on the 14th, the American Broadcasting Corporation has agreed to pay $15 million to settle a defamation lawsuit brought by President-elect Trump against a well-known host of the TV station. The fee will be paid to the foundation and library that Trump will establish in the future. According to the settlement document released on the same day, the American Broadcasting Company will also issue a statement on its website expressing regret for the remarks made by host Stephanopoulos on the show. In this lawsuit, Trump accused Stephanopoulos of repeatedly claiming on television that Trump was convicted of "rape" of writer Carroll. Trump believes that this has damaged his reputation. According to the verdict of a federal grand jury in the United States in May 2023, Trump sexually assaulted and defamed Carroll, but did not commit rape. (Golden Ten)
