The U.S. Senate advances a landmark encryption bill, with divisions among Democrats.

Jin10 data reported on May 20th that the U.S. Senate voted on Monday to advance landmark Crypto Assets legislation, with 16 Democrats joining most Republicans on a key procedural motion, which could lay the groundwork for the Senate to pass its first encryption regulatory reform. The Senate continued to advance the bill with a vote of 66 in favor and 32 against. Prior to this, bipartisan negotiations took place, with Republicans agreeing to make a series of amendments to the bill to garner enough support from Democrats to meet the 60-vote threshold required for its passage.
