TON Foundation urgently seeks a marketing VP after denying UAE's "Golden Visa" program.
The TON Foundation, which operates the Telegram-related Layer 1 blockchain "TON", has launched an urgent search for a Vice President of Marketing. This move is seen as a response to criticism surrounding the "Golden Visa" program in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to the job information on the 7th, the new position's main duties will be to "develop and execute high-impact marketing strategies to strengthen the TON ecosystem." The role will also be responsible for producing video content for social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
The issue stems from the announcement by the TON Foundation on July 6. By staking $100,000 worth of Toncoin for three years and paying a fee of $35,000, it was possible to obtain a 10-year Golden Visa in the UAE.
However, on the 7th, the UAE government-affiliated news agency WAM officially denied the program. UAE authorities stated that "virtual currency investors are not included in the Golden Visa program" and pointed out that the TON program is not subject to government approval or regulation.
After the program announcement, the price of Toncoin surged over 10% from $2.7 to reach $3, but fell back after the government's denial and has been fluctuating around the $2.7 range. The TON Foundation has not yet provided an official explanation regarding the government's denial.
