Solana Foundation Chairman: On-chain stocks are the ideal asset that combines both price and value.

gate News bot message, Solana Foundation Chair Lily Liu recently expressed her views on the characteristics of RWA and encryption assets. She pointed out that while RWA has value, it is limited by restricted trading and lacks market pricing; on the other hand, encryption-native assets like memecoin have market prices but lack intrinsic value.

Liu emphasized that a complete encryption infrastructure requires assets that possess both price and value, with on-chain stocks as representative assets. She added that RWAs are subject to regulatory and licensing restrictions, making free trading difficult, and have limited practical utility for issuers and blockchains.

Liu also mentioned that some RWAs, such as mortgage loans, are primarily used on-chain as collateral for issuing stablecoins, rather than for direct trading. She believes that stablecoins hold a central position in the on-chain economy.
