Researchers from BTQ, a startup dedicated to developing blockchain technology that can resist quantum computer attacks, recently published a journal article proposing an alternative to the (PoW) algorithm involving quantum technology, called Coarse-Grained Boson Sampling ((CGBS)). This method uses light particles (bosons) to generate unique patterns (samples) that reflect the current state of the blockchain, rather than relying on math problems based on hash.
It is reported that this method replaces the traditional PoW encryption challenge with quantum sampling tasks, significantly reducing energy consumption while ensuring the security and decentralization of the network.
