The United States destroyed websites, seizing 1 million dollars from the BlackSuit ransomware gang.

America has seized servers, domains, and approximately 1 million USD in cryptocurrency from the BlackSuit ransomware group in an international operation that took place at the end of July in coordination with the FBI, IRS, Secret Service, and forces from the UK, Germany, Ireland, France, Canada, Ukraine, and Lithuania.

BlackSuit, separated from the Royal group, has been operating since 2023, specializing in attacking critical infrastructure such as healthcare, government, and manufacturing, forcing victims to pay ransom in Bitcoin through the darknet. Since 2022, the group has attacked over 450 targets in America, accruing over 370 million USD, with ransom demands ranging from 1–10 million USD, the highest being 60 million USD. One case in 2023 recorded 49.3 BTC (~1.4 million USD) being paid, of which 1 million USD was frozen at the beginning of 2024. America has recently also dealt with other groups like Chaos and is monitoring the new group Embargo, suspected to be a successor to BlackCat, with nearly 18.8 million USD in untraceable cryptocurrency.
